No Holiday for You – Sunshine!

SATIRE – but based on a true story!

Brian had promised his wife an expansive expensive holiday somewhere really expensive.

He’d been saving for 3 years and during this time he and his wife had been working hard doing the cleaning at the slate mining factory as well as evening jobs in the evenings.

Having spent a few weeks looking at holidays on the interweb, Brian and his wife Tracy found their dream holiday. The irony was that their dream holiday really was going to be a dream holiday!

Brain’s debit card didn’t work. Convinced it was an error with the website he tried calling to make payment over the phone.

Following an argument, Brian ate humble pie. It transpired that he’d just spend £6,000 which is why his card didn’t work.

You see 3 years ago, Brian bought? a car on Hire Purchase (HP) with the ‘option’ to just give it back at the end of the one sided agreement.

He forgot to give it back.

Simple mistake. We all forget things from time to time.

He’s also forgotten to tell the HP company that he’d changed address. Therefore he’s not received their reminder (singular).

This process is too difficult for most people. If it wasn’t I wouldn’t KEEP being asked by people with a phone to cancel their Prime membership – again …

We all do it. We take up a company with an offer of a free fully featured trial. They want your credit card details. If you don’t cancel you’ll start paying. Sometimes this could mean an implicit annual contract. They rarely remind you.

Royal Mail Opt Out

Did you know that you can ask the Royal Mail to stop delivering the unaddressed junk mail to your house.

  1. Download the Opt Out form.
  2. Print several copies.
  3. Complete the several copies.
  4. Post a copy once a week until the spam stops.
  5. Hand the postman a copy personally.
  6. Record the date you posted the letter in your GoProdMe account to get a reminder in 2 years to renew your opt out request. We can do this automatically for you!

The Royal Mail won’t acknowledge your request but usually eventually honour it. Further it’s not very robust. Experience shows that junk mail is still posted – usually if the postman changes.
